The role of the reserve forces of the Army, as a component of military power, is a reference point since the establishment of the Armed Forces. Besides, history has proven that there was no wide-range conflict in the 20th century that the reserve forces of the countries involved were not gradually called to participate in.
Our country, as you know, faces a substantial threat and in combination with the extended land borders and the great number of islands in sensitive areas, it is required to support its defence regarding the capability of moving a reserve force as well. In addition, it is not in a position, for financial reasons mainly, to keep the whole force ready, which is necessary to face the threat. For these substantial reasons and also many others, it is necessary to maintain the reserve forces.
Mobilization is the mechanism which activates-moves these Reserve Forces, for our Army to turn to the war status and be able to face any arising threat.
In the said website, which constitutes a communication channel among us as well, you have the opportunity to be informed on Mobilization issues, on the procedures provided and on the reservists’ obligations. More specifically, you can be informed on issues concerning:
• the mobilization structure of the country
• the reservists’ obligations in peacetime or during mobilization
• the refresher training of the reservists
• cases of releases and exceptions from the enlistment obligation
• required supporting documents for the reservists’ payment
• required supporting documents for the exception from the calls
• prerequisites for the reservists’ promotion
• handling instructions of the mobilization documents
• ways of communication with the mobilization agencies
Keep in mind that for the mobilization mechanism to become automatic – as it has to be – regarding procedures and be completed quickly and with absolute success, it is necessary that everyone knows their job very well: we as operators of the activation system, but also you as reservists, who will be called upon.
